Faculty Support: Research and Project Funding Awards

Each semester beginning in January 2026, the Linguistics Department will accept faculty applications to fund linguistic-related research and projects of up to 4K. The deadline for Fall applications is November 1; the deadline for Spring applications is March 1. While the department will try to support several awards each year, this is a competitive funding award designed to recognize proposals that promise to bring attention to the outstanding work of our LING faculty and students. Decisions on research and project funding awards will be made and announced by the LING Executive Committee within two weeks after each application deadline.

Project Description

750 word max. Descriptions should include a clear statement of the project’s significance, details on how and where the project will be conducted, a timeline for conducting the project, a record of the (expected) participants involved, and any anticipated outcomes arising from the project, such as presentations, publications, teaching benefits, or community outreach. Priority will be given to projects that incorporate student researchers or student assistants, though this is not required.��
