ChBE Assistant Professor R. Kōnane Bay has received two prestigious honors: a 2026 U.S. Department of Energy Early Career Research Program Award and recognition on the American Institute of Chemical Engineers’ 35 Under 35 list. Both honors recognize her innovative work in materials research.
Assistant Professors Kōnane Bay and Ankur Gupta from 鶹ý’s ChBE, honored with the 2025 Air Force Office of Scientific Research Program Award.
Kōnane Bay received a CAREER award to support research at the Huli Materials Lab, where she and her team will investigate how the mechanical properties of polymer films change as their thickness is reduced to less than 100 nanometers—about a thousand times thinner than a human hair or cling wrap.
